Our Heart
What makes BPECC unique is its heart. This Baton Rouge landmark has served thousands of children over the last 63 years and has a heart that beats strong. When parents visit the school, they see committed and nurturing teachers who facilitate a learning environment that fits the needs of each individual child. They see children swinging, proud that they learned how to pump their legs to get higher. They see children skating, arms out straight, building confidence as they learn to glide across the gym floor. They see friendships formed, children who learn to have empathy and compassion for other children as they offer a helping hand to a friend who may be feeling sad. They see its heart.
When new families visit our school, they see children smiling and laughing, singing and drawing. They see artwork that hangs on clothespin lines, footprints and handprints that make ghosts for Halloween, evergreen trees for Christmas. They see infants and toddlers who learn to drink from cups, wash their own hands, walk together as a class. They see its heart.
Anyone who visits this school sees a group of women who care about each other, who laugh and smile together and with parents when they arrive at 3 p.m. to pick up their children. They see commitment and genuine love from moms who put all of their time and energy into other people’s children all day and then return home to nurture their own families. They see its heart.
